NAMI SCV NEWS
NAMI is excited to announce a new program for parents and caregivers!
NAMI Basics is an online 6-module course that offers participants information on a variety of mental illnesses, differentiating whose who in the mental health field, what the available treatment options are, how to navigate the public health care, school and juvenile justice system, tips on advocacy, ways to respond to crisis situations, and the importance of self-care.
To access this course, go HERE and sign up for the NAMI Basics OnDemand option.
The purpose of this guide is to provide an overview of available resources and some practical advice for difficult situations and relationships for consumers and families in Wisconsin. Please keep in mind that each person’s experience is unique, so no one set of guidelines can apply to every situation. Nonetheless, we hope this guide provides some guidance in navigating complex issues. Most of all, we hope it provides a sense of hope. Recovery is possible and people who live with mental illness can not only survive — but thrive.
